With winter coming now is a great time to check out the condition of your vehicle’s emergency kit. Verify that everything is present, including jumper cables, flares, tools and replenish individual items as needed. Nothing is worse than “thinking” everything is there, and then when you need it, it’s not. Sometimes get borrowed and not returned, plus you can use things up and forget to replace them.
We hope everyone enjoys their weekend!! If something comes up with your vehicles over the weekend, we do have a night/after hours drop off service. The parking lot has 24 hour security, you just fill out an envelope in the mailbox by the main shop door, and then drop that through the mail slot in that same door. It is the first day of Fall! Are your vehicles ready for the change in the weather? It’s time to check your tire pressure, cooling system, the heating system, belts, hoses, brakes, etc. Do you know that we will check all of that for you for FREE? Would like to know how it keep your Fuel Pump in good condition? Do not to let your gas tank run below 1/4 of a tank. Running it low on a frequent basis can cause premature wear on. Many contaminants and impurities sit at the bottom and the pump is forced to suck those up when the tank runs low, which can cause it to stop working. If you vehicle cranks, but won’t turn over, the cause could be a fuel pump failure. If you are in that situation, give us a call, we will get you in and diagnose the problem.
Do you know when you are due to replace your Timing Belt? If not, give us a call so that we can look up your vehicle, and let your know. It is important to get this done in a timely fashion, especially if your vehicle has an interference engine, which means that if the Timing Belt were to break, it could cause enough damage to warrant you having to replace your engine, or your vehicle. We don’t want you to have to make those hard and expensive decisions, so please if you have any questions just give us a call.
Today’s Tuesday’s Tip is….If you decide to install your own battery, please make sure to remove the plastic covers off of the terminals, before you attach the cables. We had a customer, fail to do that, didn’t realize their mistake, and after the car died, had to pay for the tow to our shop. Please if you want to DYI, make sure you know what to do, so that you don’t have to waste money on a tow. Also if you are in that situation, we want to help, feel free to call us with questions. We are hear to help.
Our tip on this Maintenance Monday is to NOT ignore your dashboard warning lights. If you are not sure what they mean give us a call…but do not ignore them. Your vehicle is trying to tell you something important. Maybe that you’re low on oil, or brake fluid. Could be an issue with your computer system. Please, just give us a call, and we can help you decide what you should do next.
